Toronto, Canada (PRWEB), April 28, 2014 – E-M Air Systems Inc. (www.EMAir.ca), the leading provider of custom commercial, residential, and industrial air conditioning (A/C) and heating repair, maintenance, and installation services in the Greater Toronto Area, is responing to the upcoming hydro rate increase across Ontario. E-M Air Systems Inc. ids also giving suggestions on how households can cut overall energy consumption.
The hydro rate hike is set to take effect starting May 1. In a standard household, the average customer bill will go up by $2.83, which is $33.96 for an entire year. Peak hour rates have also increased, with the cost to use electricity during these times becoming 13.5 cents per kilowatt-hour. The increase in hydro is particularly concerning following the 40% increase in natural gas in Ontario that took effect on April 1 of this year. “Increasing hydro rates are always a concern and, unfortunately, a fact that consumers will continually have to deal with,” says Jack Marrano, owner of E-M Air Systems Inc. “It seems like consumers are getting hit from all directions when it comes to energy, but home and business owners need to stay focused on what they can do to combat the rate hikes.”
Marrano notes that the best times to try and use high-voltage items are overnight, between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.; this will reduce consumption costs by almost half. With peak hours for the summer being between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., consumers should try their best to work outside of these times if they hope to save money.
“Another way for consumers to save is by ensuring their heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems are in good working condition. Combine that with other maintenance methods, such as following suggested thermostat settings, and homeowners can keep their energy costs down,” Marrano concludes. “Homeowners with older systems should consider replacing them, as newer systems can be as high as 98.5% efficient compared to older units, which are often around 80%. Sometimes an HVAC system may need upgrading, and it’s better to handle that now because it will save consumption costs in the long run.”
E-M Air Systems Inc. has been installing custom commercial, residential, and industrial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in the new construction and retrofit market in Southern Ontario since 1987. Because E-M Air Systems Inc. designs every HVAC system it installs and manufactures the duct work in its own sheet metal shop, clients do not have to rely on outside firms for costly blueprints or work; this translates into greater value and the industry’s most competitive pricing. E-M Air Systems Inc. is a member of the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI), the Canadian Home Builders Association, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, the Technical Safety and Standards Authority (TSSA), and the Residential Heating Ventilation Contractors Association (RHVCA).
